What we like about Kaiti...

"You are near the museum, beaches, harbour, views, cafes, shops, blues and music clubs, restaurants, and so much more ... and it is all scenic walking distance! Culture, diversified actiities, backpackers, antiques, historical buildings, waka ama events ... the list goes on and on. Awesome!!!" - Suzy K

"Kia Ora e Te Hapori o Puke Kai Iti. Living in Kaiti has an advantage, one being, where I live, supportive neighbours who, when noise is streaming from inside the whare, they will mind their own business and respectfully leave us alone, what a shame I have to leave Kaiti to attend secondary school, Kaiti needs a high school, Campion is a bit too far for my heart!" - CocoNgati

"Bringing my children up as a solo mother in Kaiti has built up their character and made them ready to face any dramas in this world. If you live in Kaiti you can live anywhere is this world with pride. Nothing but 'THE REAL'. - Kaiti Born

"Kia Ora Whanau Whanui! Kaiti is a relatively peaceful place to live, you get a real sense of Whakawhanaunatanga here! Tau ke ki te mahi o nga kaihautu mo tenei ipurangi. Kaiti will always be my Kainga noho!. Nga mihi kia koutou, Hei Kona" - Tamati Taylor

"Being able to head down to the shops for a icecream and u can catch up with whanau parked at the Kaiti mall for a chit chat." - Adi

"About a month ago I stayed two weeks in Kaiti, helped out with a few bros from Carey Baptist College in Auckland at Kura Kaiti- it was AMAZING. You guys have a beautiful community and I couldn't have wished for a better first visit to the beautiful East Coast! Rock on Kapai Kaiti, you guys are awesome.
- Chelsea Hamilton, Pukekohe

"Kia ora. This is brilliant. Tu meke." - Michelle

"I grew up in Kaiti and it has been nearly 20 years since I returned. I can recall many similar memories of sliding down Titirangi Hill on boxes, rubbish bags, and our backsides what a laugh. The best sausages in the world were from Hurstones butchery, and the Fish n chips were the best when the Newdicks owned the shop! also Jack Sinclair owed the dairy when I was growing up we could get heaps of lollies for 10cents!Ah the memories! I lived in York Street a lot of action went down in my street." - Meredith

"Kia ora Kaiti!!! Thats right and i used to live at the back of Titirangi park and used to go there with clay, jimmy, leayth, sham and tere. Attended Kaiti School when we had the Weka Ball and the mcc bat mean times oh and used to go touch the electric fence where the incinerator use to be what a crack up. - Charlie Houia

"Living in Kaiti has kept me real, my family have resided here for the last 30 years and i wouldnt have it any other way, Ida Road PArk was our hang out, never allowed to go to the huxley road dairy spaceys, and Kaiti School was the best. Always enjoy cruising around KAiti, MUCH LOVE" - Joelene Horua

"Kia ora te whanau, living in Kaiti was the bomb! I lived in front of Titirangi park and sliding down the hill on cardboard boxes from the London Street dairy was a favourite past-time and then what about the London St fish and chips!!!! The best in the world I reckon. Kaiti is humble and produced some world leaders like my whanaunga Derek Lardelli as well as a host of many others, although I reside in the big lights of Auckland now, I will always connect back and acknowledge my upbringing in Kaiti! ROCK ON KAITI MO AKE TONU ATU!" - Matai Smith

"Kaiti, the place where the best memories are made. It may not be the flashest of areas, but the people are real! Everyone says kia ora, even the posties. It's awesome to see the old ones that were there when I was growing up and those of us that move away, eventually come back...because its home. Especially for this kaiti gal!" - Cheyenne Hubbard-Bryson

"Kia Oraana - What a great website. My family and I moved to Kaiti in December 2004 and have had no 'probs', oh, maybe except for the old boy who appears every now and again (in the early hours of the morning) to the 'house he used to live in' and asks his honey to let him in - poor dear!! Anyway, we had our reservations before moving to Kaiti - one of our better decisions is all I can say! The people you meet are really friendly and the shop keepers are genuinely interested in you as a person rather than just another customer. I keep telling my friend (who has phobias about Kaiti) that "Kaiti is only what you make of Kaiti" and surprisingly very quiet!! We love it here and not in any hurry to leave!!!" - Ka Brown

"Kia ora, What an awesome website. My name is Adrienne Baird and my partner is Henare Horua. We are an older couple (in our 50's) who have just bought a home in Kaiti. We chose to live in Kaiti because of the people and because we have just left our community of Highbury and Takaro in Palmerston North and Kaiti feels more like home that any other part of Gisborne. So far we have been greeted by all the tamariki who live in Gillies Street and who play in the cul-de-sac. They are wonderful. I have seen heaps of rangatahi as I drive up Tyndall Road and I enjoy seeing their youth and energy. The other day we were moving our fridge in and a neighbour appeared from nowhere to give us a hand. We didn't even have our jug and cups unpacked so I couldn'g offer him a drink or kai but he was understanding and his help was much appreciated. So "ka pai" Kaiti. I'm sure we will enjoy living here. - Adrienne Baird

"Kaiti is the place where you always get a smile put on your face..thats why i like Kaiti" - Purri Mita
